Based so far on
only the (rare) name being the same,
the Mungo Lawrence in the first generation below may have been the same
person
as Mungo Laurence (son of John Laurence) who was baptised on 21 Jan
1666 at St.
Mary, Carlisle, Cumberland.
The Harewood
parish register transcription in YPRS
vol. 50 give the marriage of “Joshua Lowrance & Rachil
Renton” on 26 Dec
1733. However, the bridegroom’s forename was actually Joseph, as
confirmed by
the baptism of Elizabeth Lowrance in the Tadcaster BTs for 1778, which
states
that her father was “Benjamin Lowrance of Tadcaster Taylor Son of
Joseph
Lowrance of Wetherby Joiner by Rachel his Wife Daugr. of
Samuel
Renton of Lofthouse near Harewood Farmr”.
