INGHAM OF LEDSHAM

Two baptisms which could be that of Christopher Ingham of Ledsham (ca 1704-1753) are in 1704 at Hunsingore (son of Peter Ingham of the Park) and in 1705 at Allerton Mauleverer (son of Thomas Ingham of Hopperton).

Peter Ingham of the Park would appear to be the Peter Ingham of Ribston who married Elizabeth Haist at Holy Trinity Goodramgate, York, on 12 Sep 1698. Elizabeth was a daughter of George Haist of Barwick in Elmet and is mentioned in his will of 1709.

Christopher Ingham of the parish of Allerton married Mary Sunderland at Spofforth on 10 Sep 1728 and several children of Christopher Ingham of Hopperton were baptised at Allerton Mauleverer in the period 1729-47. This must have been a different Christopher Ingham from the one who lived at Ledsham. However, it is not certain that he was the son (baptised in 1705) of Thomas Ingham as there was also a Christopher, son of John Ingham of Hopperton, baptised in 1694. The IGI also shows a Christopher Ingham married on 24 Nov 1721 at Knaresborough to Mary Watson.
