GOODALL OF KIRKSTALL
The
Samuel Goodall
who married Mary Staincliffe in 1806 at Guiseley may have been the one
of that
name baptised at South Kirkby on 8 Jan 1786, son of Joshua Goodall. The
name
Joshua was used for a son of Samuel and Mary.
The
Kirkstall
parish registers record the burial of a Joshua Goodall of Kirkstall on
12 Apr
1836 aged 57. This would fit with the baptism of Joshua, son of Joshua
Goodall,
at South Kirkby on 16 Apr 1780.
Joshua
Goodall and
Sarah Brook were married at Adwick le Street on 25 Oct 1774.
Another Samuel Goodall, whose father was also named Joshua, and whose mother was Ann (Clark) Goodall, was baptised at Cowthorpe on 11 Apr 1785. However, this Samuel was presumably the Samuel Goodall, innkeeper, of Market Weighton, who died on 27 Apr 1852 aged 67 and to whom there is an MI at Cowthorpe adjacent to that of Joshua and Ann Goodall.

GOODALL
SAMUEL GOODALL of Horsforth and Kirkstall, Yorkshire,
husbandman, died before 1851.[1]
He married on 12 May 1806 at Guiseley, MARY STAINCLIFFE.[2]
Mary was born ca
1787 at Horsforth[3]
and died on 8 Nov 1857 on Club Row, Kirkstall.[4]
Children of Samuel and Mary (Staincliffe) Goodall:[5]

[1] 1851 census returns,
Kirkstall, where Mary Goodall is described as a widow. Samuel was not
in Mary’s
household in the 1841 census returns, when she was living on Club Row,
Kirkstall, so it seems likely that he was dead by then.

Horsforth PRs; Bramley Baptist Chapel registers. The latter also show
the
deaths of Charlotte, daughter of Samuel Goodall of Bramley, on 4 Dec
1823 aged
one year and eleven months, and of Samuel, son of Samuel Goodhall of
Bramley,
on 19 May 1824 aged one month. However, I have not found births or
baptisms for
such children and they appear to have been confused with Charlotte
Goodhall,
born 15 Apr 1822, and Samuel Goodhall, born 20 Apr 1824, both children
of
George and Meriah Goodall (RG 4/1714). Also living with Mary Goodall in
1841
were a Maria Goodall, aged ten, and an Elizabeth Goodall, aged twelve.
